Feasibility study on the consolidation of educational support services
Rainbow District School Board will begin a feasibility study on the consolidation of educational support services. The study will be complete no later than January 2016.
Educational support services are currently dispersed across a number of locations, including the Board Office, the Gord Ewin Centre for Education, Lively District Secondary School, Northeastern Elementary School, Lockerby Composite School and Chelmsford Valley District Composite School.
The Board Office, which houses Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Information Services and Facilities, continues to present challenges that impact day-to-day operations.
“There is insufficient and inadequate office, meeting and storage space,” said Director of Education Norm Blaseg. “We lack parking, don’t have a reception area in the main foyer, and do not have a proper shipping and receiving area.”
He added: “The Board Office requires significant upgrades to its infrastructure, including heating and ventilation systems. As the building continues to age, capital needs will continue to increase.”
For financial reasons, only current Board properties will be reviewed for the consolidation of educational support services.
