February 10 to 12: Sudbury Secondary School presents “The Pirates of Penzance”

Ahoy, Mateys!

Sudbury Secondary School is thrilled to present the musical comedy “The Pirates of Penzance”.

Performances will take place on Friday, February 10th and Saturday, February 11th at 7 pm, and Sunday, February 12th at 1 pm in the school’s Sheridan Auditorium.

“Our students are thrilled to share their artistic talents and to celebrate their hard work with a live audience,” says Principal Heather Downey. “Everyone is welcome.”

“The Pirates of Penzance” tells the story of a bumbling group of pirates and their young charge Frederic. Released from his apprenticeship, Frederic meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, and falls instantly in love.

As an unexpected twist from Frederic’s past catches up with him, absurdity follows each character as they grapple with the most supreme of virtues – doing one’s duty.

This comedic love story will bring fun and laughter to the whole family.

“From music to acting to set design, our students amaze me each and every day with their passion and dedication,” says Vanessa Chevrette, Theatre Arts teacher at Sudbury Secondary School. “The audience will not be disappointed.”

Tickets, at $15 for students and seniors and $20 for adults, can be purchased at the door, at the school’s main office, or electronically at thepiratesofpenzance.eventbrite.ca.

Sudbury Secondary School is located at 154 College Street in Sudbury.
