A.B. Ellis Public School

A.B. Ellis Public School students will present a “Back to the Future” themed holiday celebration on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:30 am and again at 5:30 pm to commemorate the film’s 30th anniversary. Parents/guardians are welcome.

Adamsdale Public School

On Tuesday, December 15th, 2015, at 5:30 pm, Adamsdale Public School will host its annual Christmas concert in the school gym. There will be a dress rehearsal at 1:30 pm on December 15th and parents and guardians are welcome to come and watch the concert at the rehearsal, if the evening time is not convenient.  (In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place on Thursday, December 17th, 2015 at 5:30 pm.)

On Wednesday, December 16th, 2015 students and staff will gather for Christmas sing-alongs in the gym at 2 pm.  Parents/guardians and relatives are welcome to join in.

Alexander Public School

Alexander Public School will host a holiday concert, "L’étoile scintillante," for parents/guardians and family members on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 1:40 pm to 2:40 pm. A second concert will take place on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 11:35 am to 12:55 pm. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 will perform a variety of holiday favourites. Admission is a non-perishable food item to support the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. Teachers will also invite parents/guardians for a special Christmas activity in the classroom.

Algonquin Road Public School

Family and friends are invited to Algonquin Road Public School’s holiday concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 12 pm in the school gym. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 will perform. (In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 12 pm.)

Students and staff will also host a second holiday concert on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 12 pm in the school gym. The concert will feature the school Choir, the Recorder Group and a special guest performance. Non-perishable food items will be collected as admission.

Students in Grades 6 to 8 will host a potluck lunch on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 12 pm for parents/guardians and families.

Assiginack Public School

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, students in Grades 5 to 8 travelled to the Sudbury Theatre Centre for ‘A Christmas Carol.’ The Sudbury Lions Club made this special outing possible.

All students will enjoy a performance by the Manitoulin Secondary School Band on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 10:15 am.

The Assiginack Public School all-star volleyball teams will compete in the Island Championship on Thursday, December 10, 2015.

All grades will present a festive show to embrace the holiday spirit at the Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 7 pm in the school gym.

Intermediate students will lead students in designing community Christmas ornaments thanks to donations from the Assiginack Township during the week of Monday, December 14 to Friday, December 18, 2015. The ornaments will be used to decorate the community Christmas tree on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 12 pm, following a special pancake breakfast. Everyone is welcome to join students and staff in a Christmas carol sing-along at 1:45 pm.

Carl A. Nesbitt Public School

Carl A. Nesbitt Public School invites friends and family members to attend its Christmas concert on Thursday, December 17, 2015. Performances will take place at 9 am and again at 12 pm. In keeping with the theme of "Les couleurs de Noël/The Colours of Christmas", students will sing holiday favourites associated with the colours of the season. Central Manitoulin Public School

In the spirit of Christmas, students and staff at Central Manitoulin Public School will collect non-perishable food items for the local food drive.

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, junior students travelled to the Sudbury Theatre Centre to watch a performance of ‘A Christmas Carol.’ The Kinsmen Club of Sudbury made this special day possible.

The community is invited to join Central Manitoulin Public School at a special Island Holiday Concert at Manitoulin Secondary School on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 7 pm. The MSS Concert Band, Vocal Group and various ensembles from Island elementary schools will perform. Everyone is invited to attend. 

Staff and students will host a Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 6:30 pm. Non-perishable food items will be collected as admission in support of the local food bank.

The community is invited to join staff and students on Friday, December 18, 2015 for a Christmas sing-along at 9:30 am in the school gym.

Charles C. McLean Public School

Charles C. McLean Public School will collect non-perishable food items from Tuesday, December 1 to Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in support of the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive.

Family and friends are invited to a Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 6:30 pm in the school gym.

Chelmsford Public School

Staff and students at Chelmsford Public School will kick off the festive season with their Kids Helping Kids Food Drive on Thursday, December 3, 2015. Following the collection, participants are welcome to enjoy a bowl of chili and hot chocolate. 

The school will host a pancake breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 9 am to 12 pm. This event is free and the community is welcome to attend.

Students and staff will host a Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 9 am and 11:30 am. Everyone is welcome.

The school’s annual Christmas Feast will take place on Thursday, December 17, 2015.

All students and special guests will enjoy a hot turkey dinner prepared by students and volunteers.

Churchill Public School

Churchill Public School began the holiday season with the annual Rainbow Kids Helping Kids Food Drive launch on Friday, November 13, 2015.

Students and staff will host a tailgate party on Thursday, December 3, 2015 for the food drive. Staff, students, and parents/guardians will canvass local neighbourhoods to collect canned food items and donations in an effort to keep the coveted Kids Helping Kids Torch and the title of "Most Cans Collected." Once all donations have been collected, students will build canned food pyramids in the gym. 

Students will gather in the gym to sing Christmas carols each morning starting Monday, December 14 through Friday, December 18, 2015. Students will also write letters to Santa. Letters can be dropped off in the office for collection.

The public is welcome to attend Churchill Public School’s "Christmas at the Movies" holiday concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 11:15 am and again at 6 pm in the school gym. Students will creatively present a selection of songs from a variety of well-known Christmas movies. Movie theatre popcorn will be available for guests.

The Churchill Student Parliament will host a pancake breakfast and pajama day for staff and students on Friday, December 18, 2015.

Copper Cliff Public School

Copper Cliff Public School will host their annual Christmas dance for Grades 6 to 8 students on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 6 pm.

Staff and students invite parents/guardians, family members and the local community to a Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 6 pm. Non-perishable food items will be collected as admission. Baked goods will be available for purchase.

The entire school community will participate in a sing-along on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 12:25 pm to 12:55 pm in the school gym. Everyone is encouraged to wear their best "holiday bling."

C.R. Judd Public School

Family and friends are invited to the C.R. Judd Public School Christmas concert on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 1:45 pm in the school gym. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 will perform. Cyril Varney will celebrate the season with a “Let It Snow” holiday concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 1:30 pm and again at 6 pm.

Throughout the month of December, the entire school community will collect items in support of Sudbury’s Infant Food Bank.

Ernie Checkeris Public School

Staff and students at Ernie Checkeris Public School invite family and friends to a Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 1:30 pm and again at 6 pm in the school gym. Students will perform songs of peace and diversity through the theme "Les enfants de la terre/Children of the World". Admission of a non-perishable food item to support the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive would be appreciated.

Jean Hanson Public School

Jean Hanson Public School students will demonstrate their creativity during the annual holiday concert on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 11 am.

Lansdowne Public School

Lansdowne Public School will host a holiday concert on Thursday, December 17, 2015. The concert will take place in two groups – the first group will perform from 12 pm to 12:45 pm, and the second group will perform from 2 pm to 2:45 pm. All families are welcome.

The entire school, in partnership with Better Beginnings Better Futures and the Best Start Hub, will host a family Christmas dinner complete with turkey and all the fixings on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 5:30 pm in the school gym. Santa will make a special appearance at approximately 6:30 pm.

Larchwood Public School

Larchwood Public School staff, students and parents/guardians will collect non-perishable food items at Chris’ Valuemart in Dowling on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 4 pm to 7 pm. Chili and hot chocolate will be served at the school. Staff and students will continue their food collection to support the Onaping Falls Food Bank until Friday, December 18, 2015.

On Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 12 pm to 3 pm, staff and students will host the 26th Annual Christmas Tea. Guests will enjoy refreshments, games, a penny table, prizes and much more. Everyone is welcome.

Kindergarten to Grade 8 students will participate in a Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 1 pm and again at 6 pm. Performances will showcase talent from each classroom, the Larchwood Slivers and a special solo performance. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items as admission. Students will enjoy a hot turkey lunch during Larchwood Public School’s first ever Christmas Feast on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

Levack Public School

On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, primary and junior students from Levack Public School visited the Holiday Train in Cartier.

Students in Grades 5 to 8 will take part in a Christmas Dance on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Admission is $3.

In support of the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive, Levack Public School will collect non-perishable food until Friday, December 11, 2015.

On Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 7 pm, the Levack Rock Band and Choir will perform at the St. John’s 40th Annual Carolfest.

On Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 7 pm, the school will host a Christmas concert in the school gym. Performances will include the Levack Rock Band, the Onaping Falls Community Choir and special guests, Nickel City Sound. A bake sale and penny table will be set up. Admission is a non-perishable food item. Everyone is welcome.

Staff and students will take part in a Christmas sing-along on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 9:30 am in the school gym. The Levack Public School Rock Band will perform with the Choir in English and French. All parents/guardians are welcome.

Little Current Public School

The Manitoulin Secondary School Band will spread Christmas cheer with a special holiday concert for Little Current Public School on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 1:30 pm in the school gym.

On Friday, December 18, 2015 at 9 am, the entire school will gather in the gym for a Christmas sing-along.

MacLeod Public School

To kick start the festive season, students from Kindergarten to Grade 3 enjoyed “cookies and milk” with Santa on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

On Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm, intermediate students canvassed local neighbourhoods to collect non-perishable items in support of the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive.

MacLeod Public School students in Grades 2 and 3 will host a Christmas concert on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 12 pm.

Kindergarten to Grade 2 students will perform a Christmas concert for guests on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 10 am. A second performance will take place at 12 pm.

On Thursday, December 17, 2015, Grade 7 and 8 classes will participate in a holiday luncheon. Parents/guardians are invited to attend. 

Junior students will visit Science North on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. 

From Monday, December 14, 2015 to Friday, December 18, 2015 junior students will participate in a gingerbread house building competition.

 

Students and parents/guardians are invited to purchase "MacLeod on a Mission" gift cards for $5. Proceeds will go to the Elgin Street Mission.

Markstay Public School

Markstay Public School will host its annual winter concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 12 pm. Non-perishable food items will gladly be accepted as admission in support of the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. The School Council will have a Christmas ornament and bake sale. Proceeds will go towards schoolyard and school technology improvements.

Monetville Public School

Students at Monetville Public School will participate in the annual French River Lions Club Canned Food Drive from Tuesday, December 1, 2015 to Monday, December 14, 2015.

On Friday, December 4, 2015, students and staff will enjoy a pancake breakfast and special visit from Santa.

The public is welcome to attend the Monetville Public School winter concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 will perform a variety of festive songs. Baked goods will be for sale.

Northeastern Elementary School

The entire school community took part in the kick-off for the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive on Friday, November 13, 2015. In support of the drive, staff and students will take part in a variety of school events with a goal to collect 10,000 non-perishable food items.

Members of the volleyball teams challenged teachers to a staff vs. student volleyball game on Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Admission was $1 or a non-perishable food item.

For the month of December, students can challenge Mr. B to a badminton match during their regular gym class. Participation is a non-perishable food item or a monetary donation of choice. Mr. B will match all donations. 

Students will take part in a ‘Charlie Brown Christmas’ theme poster contest. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 and will have their poster featured on the school website and Facebook page.

On Thursday, December 3, 2015, students will participate in a bake exchange. Items can be purchased with money or exchanged for canned foods.

Students and staff will participate in a Zumba marathon on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 12:20 pm. Participation cost is $8 or 8 non-perishable food items.

In the afternoon on Friday, December 11, 2015, students will participate in a variety of Christmas activities including festive crafts and BINGO. Students are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items.

The school will host a “True Meaning of Christmas” concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 9:30 am. Performances will showcase talent from students in Kindergarten to Grade 3, the Glee Club, the school band and junior and intermediate classes. Admission is a non-perishable food item or monetary donation.

Students will enjoy a pancake breakfast with Santa on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Breakfast will include pancakes, ham and juice. Cost will be $1 or a non-perishable food item.

To wrap-up the food drive, Northeastern Elementary students who collected the most cans will load the trucks with the food donations on Thursday, December 17, 2015.

Pinecrest Public School

The Pinecrest Student Parliament and ISP class will canvass local neighbourhoods on Thursday, December 3, 2015 to support the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. Parliament held a student dance and collected some 100 cans.

Staff and students invite the public to the Pinecrest Public School annual Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 6:30 pm. With the help of green screen technology, two very special and secret guests will be in attendance.

Princess Anne Public School

Princess Anne Public School will participate in the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive this holiday season. A variety of events will take place in an effort to collect food items, including a community food drive on Thursday, December 3, 2015 starting at 4 pm. Families are encouraged to join. Participants will enjoy chili and hot chocolate following the collection.

Queen Elizabeth II Public School

Queen Elizabeth II Public School will host their annual "Christmas Bazaar" on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 12:30 pm. A variety of activities will take place including cakewalks, penny tables and candy cane pulls.

Students will host a Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 1:45 pm. Non-perishable food donations in support of the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive are greatly appreciated.

Redwood Acres Public School

Once again, students at Redwood Acres Public School are proud participants in the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. The school community has also adopted families who will receive Christmas baskets and gifts. 

Throughout the month, students will participate in various classroom-based festive activities including building candy houses, a “Reading Buddies” potluck luncheon and Christmas crafts. 

Families and friends are invited to join staff and students for a Christmas sing-along on Friday, December 11, 2015 and Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1:30 pm.

R.H. Murray Public School

Staff and students at R.H. Murray Public School kicked off their Kids Helping Kids Food Drive on Monday, November 30, 2015. Throughout the month, students will take part in a series of festive events to support the drive.

The R.H. Murray Snowflake Choir will perform their holiday repertoire at the Beaver Lake Community Centre on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 1 pm, the Meadowbrook Retirement Village on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 1 pm, and the Anderson Farm on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 6 pm.

Members of the R.H. Murray School Council will welcome students, staff and community partners to a festive luncheon on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 11:30 am.

Staff and students will wrap up the season with an outdoor Christmas sing-along at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. The evening will include refreshments, raffles and a few surprises. All members of the public are welcome to attend this true north event.

R.L. Beattie Public School

From Tuesday, December 1, 2015 to Friday, December 11, 2015, the R.L. Beattie Barons will take on the Lo-Ellen Park Knights in a food drive challenge. All donations will support the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. 

Staff and students will host a holiday concert, Santa’s Tweets & Treats, on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10 am and again at 1 pm. Admission is a non-perishable food item.

S. Geiger Public School

S. Geiger Public School’s annual food drive will begin on Friday, December 4, 2015 with a special celebration of ‘Holidays Around the World.’

On Thursday, December 17, 2015, staff and students will welcome the community for a Stone Soup Holiday Concert. Festive treats will be for sale.

Valley View Public School

Valley View Public School jump-started the holiday season with their Kids Helping Kids Food Drive on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

Throughout December, the school will have a Christmas Post Office. Starting Monday, December 7, 2015, students are invited to send some holiday cheer to a classmate, a sibling or a Valley View friend. Candy canes can be purchased for 5 cents.

The school will present its annual holiday concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 9:30 am and again at 11:30 am. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 will perform. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend.

Staff and students will participate in red and green spirit day on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

Walden Public School

Students in the choir and Glee Club at Walden Public School are practising a variety of songs to entertain guests at the Anderson Farm tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Students will also perform for the residents at Meadowbrook Retirement Community. 

The school’s Kids Helping Kids Food Drive is well under way at Walden Public School. Students are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items. Students in Grades 1 to 3 will participate in the Lansdowne Public School Foodanse Challenge to demonstrate how children can make a difference in their community.

Westmount Public School

The Westmount Wizards will host a Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 1:30 pm and Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 11:15 am. Guests will enjoy performances from students in Kindergarten to Grade 2, en français.

Webbwood Public School

Webbwood Public School kicked off their annual food drive on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

The local community is invited for hot chocolate, a bake sale and carol singing on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

Barrydowne College

Teachers at Barrydowne College will prepare a special lunch for students and guests on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Local churches have generously donated 100 stockings filled with Christmas gifts to be given to students throughout the day.

Lasalle Secondary School

Students and staff will celebrate the festive season with Winter MADness on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 7 pm in the school gym. The evening will feature a variety of festive performances from the Senior and Junior Jazz Ensembles, the Intermediate and Senior Concert Bands, the Guitar Ensemble and special guests The Nickel City Wind Ensemble. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Baked goods and refreshments will be for sale. A penny table will also be set up. A monetary donation of choice is appreciated.

On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, the school will host a fundraiser basketball game between the senior boys’ team and the Greater Sudbury Police. All proceeds will go towards the Infant Food Bank. 

Lively District Secondary School

In the spirit of the holidays, students and staff at Lively District Secondary School will collect non-perishable food items for the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. They will also collect baby items in support of the Infant Food Bank’s ‘Fill a Crib’ campaign.

Students and staff will take part in a pajama/movie day on Friday, December 4, 2015. All proceeds will go towards the CTV Lions Children’s Christmas Telethon.

Music students at Lively District Secondary School will perform for parents, friends and community members at the annual Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 7 pm. Students from Walden Public School are invited to a daytime concert. 

Lockerby Composite School

The Lockerby Composite School Winter Concert will take place on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 7 pm in the school auditorium. The Guitar ensemble, the Grade 9 music class and the school’s Concert Band will perform. Admission will be a cash donation. Proceeds will go to the Joan Mantle Music Trust.

Students and staff will partner with Our Children, Our Future to make the spirit brighter by adopting 16 families for this holiday season. Each homeroom will receive a wish list and will shop for their family throughout the month. A wrap-up celebration will take place on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10 am in the school gym. Gifts will be delivered following the event.

In the afternoon on Friday, December 18, 2015, the Students’ Council will host the annual Christmas assembly. A variety of student musical performances and skits will take place.

Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School

On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School will host a Christmas concert at 7 pm in the school gym. The Junior and Senior Jazz Band, the Concert Band and special guests, The Northern Brass Choir, will perform. Admission is a donation of choice.

Manitoulin Secondary School

Manitoulin Island’s annual Island Schools Christmas Concert will take place on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 7 pm. Three elementary schools will join Manitoulin Secondary School musicians to deliver a wonderful evening filled with Christmas cheer to the entire community. There will be a silver collection at the door with all proceeds going to the Joan Mantle Music Trust.

Staff and students will host the 46th Annual Awards Night on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 7:30 pm. Graduates will receive over $48,000 in monetary awards donated generously by the school community. The public is welcome.

Sudbury Secondary School

Sudbury Secondary School and the Adult Day School will celebrate the festive season with a holiday feast on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. The feast will be prepared by staff and served by community leaders.

On Friday, December 18, 2015, the school will host its annual Christmas assembly.
