Festive Events in Rainbow Schools 2019

A.B. Ellis Public School
On Wednesday, December 18th, students and staff will host a Christmas concert at 1 pm in the school gym. Parents/guardians are invited to attend.

On Thursday, December 19th, the entire school will enjoy a special Breakfast with Santa in the school gym.

On Friday, December 20th, everyone will gather for a Christmas sing along in the gym.

Adamsdale Public School
Staff and students at Adamsdale Public School will present a Christmas concert on Monday, December 16th at 12 pm and 6 pm. Each class, as well as the Choir and Ojibwe singers, will present a festive musical number. Family and friends are welcome to attend. There is no charge for this event.

Alexander Public School
Students and staff at Alexander Public School will collect non-perishable food items during spirit days to support the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive.

Families are welcome to attend one of two Christmas concerts on Wednesday, December 11th and Thursday, December 12th.

On Monday, December 16th, students are invited to dress in their favourite pyjamas for a special holiday breakfast. Entertainment will be provided by a local parent/musician.

Students will take part in a Holiday Fun Day and Bingo on Thursday, December 19th.

Algonquin Road Public School
Members of the Algonquin Band and Choir kicked off the holiday season with a performance at St. Joseph’s Villa on December 3rd.

Staff and students will host a Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 17th at 12 pm in the school gym. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 3 will perform. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place on Friday, December 20th at 12 pm.

Students will enjoy a Potluck Feast on Wednesday, December 18th at 11:30 am for Grades 4 and 5, and at 12:30 pm for Grades 6 to 8. Parents, guardians and family members are invited to attend this delicious tradition.

The community is welcome to attend a musical holiday concert with performances from the Choir and Instrumental Band on Thursday, December 19th at 2 pm.

Assiginack Public School
On November 19th, students from Assiginack Public School’s Grade 3/4 class kicked-off the holiday season by packing and sending goodie boxes to members of the Canadian Armed Forces deployed overseas.

The school’s annual Christmas concert will take place on Wednesday, December 18th at 6:30 pm. The Nutcracker-themed event will include student performances, a Bake Sale and much more. All proceeds will support class trips. Santa will make a special appearance. Everyone is welcome.

The week of December 16th will feature a variety of festive activities and dress-up days led by the Student Council. The week will conclude on Friday, December 20th, with a sing along in the gym at 1:45 pm.

Barrydowne College
Every Friday until Christmas, students at Barrydowne College will have the opportunity to create hand-made gifts during Christmas craft sessions. The annual Christmas luncheon will take place on Wednesday, December 18th at 11:30 am for all students, volunteers, and staff.

Carl A. Nesbitt Public School
Students at Carl A. Nesbitt Public School will collect non-perishable food items for the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. Student Parliament has organized a variety of activities throughout the month to collect food items and monetary donations.

On Thursday, December 19th, students and staff will host a Christmas concert, “A Nesbitt Generation Celebration” at 9 am and 12 pm in the school gym. Parents/guardians are invited to attend.

Central Manitoulin Public School
Students at Central Manitoulin Public School organized a Halloween “Cakewalk” to fundraise for the cost of a student’s education for a year through Samaritan’s Purse. Parent volunteers generously donated cakes and paid for the items in the boxes.

The school will host their annual Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:30 pm and Wednesday December 18th at 9:30 am. The theme is Shining Bright. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Students in the Grade 3/4 class will sing festive carols to local neighbours on Friday, December 20th from 11:10 am to 12:30 pm.

A “Swap rack” of used winter clothing is set up at the school for those in need. Items will be collected until Wednesday, December 19th. Extras will be donated to Manitoulin Family Resources. Students and staff are also collecting non-perishable food items for the local food bank.

Charles C. McLean Public School
Students and staff at C.C. McLean Public School will collect non-perishable food items until Tuesday, December 17th in support of the Manitoulin Family Resources’ Christmas Basket campaign.

The school will host its Christmas concert  on Tuesday, December 17th. A dress rehearsal will take place at 9:30 am and an evening concert at 6:30 pm in the gym. Everyone is welcome. People who are able to make the dress rehearsal are encouraged to join us in order to make room for the evening performance.

A “Kids Shop for Free” event will take place at the school on Wednesday, December 18th. Gently used items will be graciously accepted.

Staff and volunteers will prepare a holiday feast of turkey and all the trimmings for students on Thursday, December 19th at 11:30 am.

The community is invited to join staff and students on Friday, December 20th for a Christmas sing along at 9:30 am in the gym. It will be also be pyjama day so wear your onesie and join the festivities.

Chelmsford Public School and Chelmsford Valley District Composite School
Staff and students from Chelmsford Valley District Composite School and Chelmsford Public School will join together for a Christmas Feast on Wednesday, December 18th. C.V.C.D.S. will also host the Chelmsford Public School Christmas concert on Thursday, December 19th.

Churchill Public School
Churchill Public School students marked the month of December with the annual Rainbow Kids Helping Kids Day on December 5th. Students, staff and parents canvassed local neighbourhoods to collect donations in support of the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive.

Throughout the month of December, students will take part in a variety of activities, including dances, dress up days and decorating contests.

Staff and students will host a holiday concert with two performances on Wednesday, December 18th at 9:30 am and 11:30 am. Admission is a non-perishable food item.

Cyril Varney Public School
Students from Cyril Varney Public School will participate in the annual Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 17th at 1 pm and 2:15 pm. Students will enjoy a pancake breakfast hosted by staff on Thursday, December 19th.

Junior students will visit Science North on Thursday, December 19th and Friday, December 20th for a variety of educational workshops.

The season wraps-up with a Christmas Bling Day on Friday, December 20th.

Ernie Checkeris Public School
Students at Ernie Checkeris Public School will collect non-perishable food items for the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. Students and staff will take part in a variety of holiday themed activities to collect food items and monetary donations for the campaign.

The annual Christmas concert will take place on Tuesday, December 17th at 1:30 pm, and Wednesday, December 18th at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm. Parents and guardians are invited.

Espanola High School
Espanola High School will host a holiday concert on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 pm. The Grade 9/10 Junior Band will perform Christmas classics, including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Nutcracker Swing”. The Grade 11/12 Senior Band will perform “The 12 Days of Christmas” and a medley of songs called “A Swingin’ Holiday”.

Jean Hanson Public School
Throughout December, students at Jean Hanson Public School will craft ornaments to decorate the Christmas tree in the lobby.

Staff and students will collect non-perishable food items for the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive until Monday, December 16th.

A Winter Play Day, full of games and activities, will take place in the school gym on Friday, December 13th.

The holiday concert will take place on Wednesday, December 18th at 1 pm. Everyone is welcome.

Lansdowne Public School
In December, students and staff will collect food items to support the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive.

Students will enjoy the “Twelve Days of Christmas” with an event scheduled each day leading up to the holidays, including sing alongs, ornament making and a door-decorating event.

The holiday concert will take place on Tuesday, December 17th at 12 pm.

The school will host a Breakfast with Santa for students on Thursday, December 19th.

Levack Public School
The Levack Christmas Choir will perform at the 44th Annual CarolFest at St. John’s United Church in Levack on Sunday, December 8th at 7 pm.

Students will collect non-perishable food items until Friday, December 13th. Staff and students will also enjoy a Christmas Feast of turkey and all the trimmings.

On Thursday, December 18th, students will enjoy a special pancake breakfast with Santa. That evening at 6 pm, the school will host a Christmas concert in the gym. Guests will enjoy performances from the school Choir, the Onaping Falls Commmunity Choir and more. Baked goods will be for sale and a penny table will be set up. Admission is a non-perishable food item. Everyone is welcome.

Little Current Public School
Students and staff will collect non-perishable food items for the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. All food collected will be donated to the Manitoulin Family Resources Food Bank. Students and staff will also collect new or gently used mittens and hats to donate to local organizations.

A “Kids Only Christmas Shopping Extravaganza” will take place on Thursday, December 12th. Students will have the opportunity to purchase items for their family and friends. All items have been donated and will cost $3 or less. Proceeds will support a local charity.

The Christmas Concert will take place on Wednesday, December 18th at 9 am and 6 pm. Everyone is welcome.

Lively District Secondary School
In the spirit of the holidays, staff and students collected non-perishable food items for the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive. Students canvassed the local community for two hours on the morning of December 5th. Students will also host bake sales and sell candy-grams to support the drive.

Members of the Student Council will serve hot chocolate at the Annual Anderson Farm Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 7th.

Staff and students will host the annual Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 17th. Students from Walden Public School will enjoy a performance at 10 am. Parents and community members are invited to an evening performance at 7 pm.

MacLeod Public School
Throughout December, MacLeod Public School students will take part in various activities to raise funds and collect food for the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive, including movie day, hat day, a floor hockey tournament and bake sales.

On December 5th, students enjoyed photos and cookies with Santa. All students had the opportunity to meet Santa.

The school will host a holiday concert on Tuesday, December 17th at 9:30 am and 11:45 am. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 will perform. Residents from Autumnwood Retirement Residence will attend. Students in Grades 4 to 6 will decorate gingerbread houses.

The MacLeod Choir will tour during the month of December spreading cheer at the Autumnwood Retirement Residence and Science North.

At 9 am on Thursday, December 19th and Friday, December 20th, students and staff will gather for a sing along in the gym. MacLeod alumni will perform.

Markstay Public School
On December 4th, Markstay students, in partnership with the Markstay-Warren Fire Department, canvassed the community for non-perishable food donations. Items collected will be distributed to the local food bank during a “Chain of Caring” event on Friday, December 13th at 10 am. The community is welcome to join.

On Thursday, December 12th from 12 to 1:30 pm, staff and students can purchase gently used gifts for family members during a White Elephant Sale. Community members are welcome to purchase items between 1 pm and 1:30 pm.

The school will spread holiday joy during a concert on Wednesday, December 18th at 6:30 pm. Baked goods will be available for purchase starting at 6 pm. Families unable to attend are invited to the dress rehearsal on Tuesday, December 17th at 11:45 am. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place on Thursday, December 19th.

Monetville Public School
Students and staff kicked-off the season of giving with the annual French River Lions Club Canned Food Drive. Collections will take place until Tuesday, December 17th in support of the Christmas Basket Program.

On Friday, December 13th, students will enjoy a pancake breakfast with Santa.

The school will host its winter concert on Tuesday, December 17th at 1 pm. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 will perform, including Ojibwe classes. Admission of a non-perishable food item would be greatly appreciated.

Princess Anne Public School
Princess Anne Public School students will enjoy a festive holiday feast with turkey and all the trimmings on Wednesday, December 11th.

The school will host a fundraiser concert for the Joan Mantle Music Trust in partnership with Sudbury Secondary School on Friday, December 13th.

Staff and students will host a winter concert on Wednesday, December 18th at 12 pm and 6 pm.

Queen Elizabeth II Public School
Staff and students at Queen Elizabeth II Public School will host a Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 17th at 11:45 am.

With the help of many community partners, staff and volunteers, students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 will enjoy a Christmas feast on Thursday, December 19th at 12 pm, and a pyjama day and pancake breakfast on Friday, December 20th at 9:15 am.

Redwood Acres Public School
Redwood Acres will host several holiday events during the month of December in support of the Edgar Burton Kids Helping Kids Food Drive.

On Monday, December 16th, students will enjoy a holiday feast complete with turkey and all the fixings.

On Wednesday, December 18th and Thursday, December 19th at 11:30 am, the school will host their annual Christmas concert. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and the school choir will perform holiday favourites. Admission of a non-perishable food item or monetary donation to support the Food Drive would be appreciated.

R.H. Murray Public School
The Snowflake Choir performed at the Beaver Lake Community Dinner on December 4th.

Staff and students at R.H. Murray Public School helped kick off the Rainbow Kids Helping Kids Food Drive December 5th. Students will take part in various festive events to support the drive.

The R.H. Murray Snowflake Choir will also perform at the opening ceremonies of the Anderson Farm Tree Lighting in Walden on Saturday, December 7th.

Members of the school community will welcome students, staff and community partners to a festive luncheon on Tuesday, December 17th at 11:30 am.

Staff and students will wrap-up the season with an outdoor Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 18th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The evening will feature horse drawn wagon rides, cookies and hot chocolate, as well as classroom performances. All members of the public are welcome to attend this true north event.

Students will take part in Christmas caroling on Thursday, December 19th at 9:30 am. Gingerbread cookie decorating will follow.

R.L. Beattie Public School
The R.L. Beattie Public School Choir will perform at the Lions Club Christmas Telethon on Saturday, December 7th.

On Tuesday, December 10th, students in Grades 1 and 2 will host their holiday concert at 12 pm. Kindergarten students will enjoy a sing along at 2 pm. Students in Grades 3 to 6 will perform at the holiday concert on Wednesday, December 11th at 9:30 am and 12 pm.

Students in Grades 1 and 2 will perform at the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre and the Royal Canadian Legion on Friday, December 13th.

To culminate the season, the Minitones Choir will perform at Twiggs Coffee Roasters on Friday, December 20th at 9 am.

S. Geiger Public School
Students from S. Geiger Public School are thrilled to present a Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 18th at 1 pm for families and members of the local community. Baked goods will be available for purchase. All funds will support the Intermediate year-end trip. Guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item.

Westmount Public School
The Westmount Wizards will host a Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 18th at 9:30 am and again at 1:15 pm. Guests will enjoy performances from students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 en français.
