Fuel for Kids: NASCAR’s Dave Connelly drives home importance of safety

Dave Connelly will drive home the importance of safety when he pulls into Carl A. Nesbitt Public School with his colourful NASCAR and racing team on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 as part of the Fuel for Kids program.
He will be the featured guest at an assembly at 1:35 pm, talking to students about the safety features of his uniform and his car. Grade 3 students from Ernie Checkeris Public School will join the Carl A. Nesbitt Public School community for this special presentation.
“This exciting experience will remind our students that safety is always first and foremost,” says Principal Terry Moss. “Hearing this message from a race car driver as we approach the end of the school year will certainly remind students to stay safe during the summer break.”
The Fuel for Kids Program will culminate with an evening barbecue fundraiser. The racing team will join volunteers from Carl A. Nesbitt Public School to sell Schneiders hot dogs and snack packs at Metro on Lasalle from 4 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
“All of the food will be donated, ensuring that 100 per cent of the proceeds go towards our school initiatives,” adds Principal Moss. “We are most grateful to Dave Connelly, the racing team, the many volunteers, Schneiders and Metro for their support.”
The Fuel for Kids program has been operating in communities across Ontario for the last seven years, raising over $180,000 for schools.
