Aiden Healy, 3, had fun exploring the Kindergarten classroom at Ernie Checkeris Public School during a French Immersion Information Night on Thursday, January 24, 2013 while Lily Jones, 3, worked on art with Juliette Deloye, a Grade 8 student at Carl A. Nesbitt Public School. Rainbow District School Board is currently accepting registrations for English and French Immersion programs. For enrolment in Junior Kindergarten, your child must be four years of age by December 31st, 2013. For enrolment in Senior Kindergarten, your child must be five years of age by December 31st, 2013.
French Immersion immerses children in the French language, including cultural experiences. The program provides a balance of English and French instruction. French is gradually increased throughout the Kindergarten program. This program is designed for English speaking parents/guardians so they may support their children to become bilingual. The English Program is exclusively in English and includes a Core French component. Students learn basic French through songs, games, drama and interactive activities for a specified period of time daily, beginning in Grade 4.
