Grade 10 students write OSSLT on March 27th

On Thursday, March 27, 2008, all Grade 10 students in Ontario will write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) – including students in Rainbow Schools.

The OSSLT is a graduation requirement administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO). The test assesses the reading and writing skills that students are expected to have learned in all subjects by the end of Grade 9, as outlined in The Ontario Curriculum.

“In order to support student success, parents/guardians are asked to ensure that their child is present at school for the test and prepared to do his or her best,” says Director of Education Jean Hanson.

Parents can help their children prepare for the test by accessing practice questions and test information at www.eqao.com. This website also has a “Getting Ready Guide” with more information about preparing for this important test.
