Guinness World Record holders perform at MineSET Show
Confederation Secondary School’s Evolutionary Band will perform at the MineSET Show this Saturday, April 26th at the Walden Arena in Lively. A one-of-a-kind exhibition, MineSET will feature the latest innovations in mining equipment and products, demonstrations from the world of mining, industry training information, career opportunities and more.
"Evolutionary and crew look forward to performing for the more than 1,000 people expected to attend the show," says Music Director Norm McIntosh. According to MineSET organizer Tom Hewlett, "the addition of some mining-related entertainment will add a unique and memorable component to the event."
This is not the first time that the 23-member Evolutionary Band brings rock to life amidst miners and mining machines. In April 2007, Evolutionary appeared live on Canada AM setting a new Guinness World Record for the deepest concert below the earth’s crust, performing at the 3400 foot level of VALE Inco’s North Mine.
"Jeff Hutcheson reported live on national television, celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our young musicians and crew with Canadians from coast to coast," says McIntosh. He adds: "When told about the upcoming gig, students in the band wondered if some of the people they met underground would be attending the MineSET show. They have fond memories of the Guinness concert and are looking forward to seeing their ‘mining friends’ once again."
Evolutionary’s performance at MineSET will include rock tunes from artists such as Ozzie Osbourne, RUSH, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Guns ‘N Roses, Suzie McNeil and AC/DC. The band will play three sets on Saturday, with the first one starting at 10:30 am. Evolutionary invites their friends from VALE Inco and everyone in the community to come out and rock with them at the Walden Arena in Lively. Admission is free.
