Information sessions on hosting international students
Are you interested in welcoming an international student into your home?
Rainbow District School Board and the Canada Homestay Network invite you to learn more about the opportunity by attending an upcoming information session.
Information sessions will be held on Monday, March 27th at 6:30 pm at Lockerby Composite School; Tuesday, March 28th at 6:30 pm at Lively District Secondary School; Wednesday, March 29th at 6:30 pm at Lasalle Secondary School; and Thursday, March 30th at 6:30 pm at Confederation Secondary School.
“As we welcome international students into our schools and school communities, we are committed to providing them with an exceptional academic and cultural experience,” says Director of Education Norm Blaseg.
He added: “To that end, we have partnered with The Canada Homestay Network to place students with caring families. Hosting an international student in your home promises to cultivate global citizenship, intercultural understanding, and life-long friendships.”
The Canada Homestay Network is a trusted provider of homestay experiences. They work closely with homestay families and schools to ensure a positive transition that includes a focus on exemplary care and support with language. If selected as a host, an allowance of $650 per month is provided to offset expenses.
