Grade 8 students and their parents/guardians are invited to tune in to Chelmsford Valley District Composite School’s Virtual Information Night on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 6 pm. The presentation will be available at cvdcs.rainbowschools.ca. All students are invited to participate regardless of which elementary school they currently attend.

“Students and families will learn about the diverse and innovative programs and opportunities offered to students at CVDCS,” says Principal Danielle Williamson. “Everyone is welcome to join us online.”

In addition to arts, athletics and academics, students can explore a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in one of three sectors: Arts and Culture – Community Based Culture, Construction – Carpentry Techniques, and Health and Wellness – Exercise Physiology and Health.

SHSMs are Ministry approved programs where students focus their studies on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements of the OSSD. In this program, real life experiences support literacy and numeracy development, allowing students to explore all aspects of healthcare and medical technologies and the implementation of Indigenous perspectives in the industry.

Students can also enrol in two and four-credit programs through Co-op, Dual Credits and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP). These programs provide students with a venue to experience the exciting world of work first-hand.

Chelmsford Valley District Composite School has been revitalized to create a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school offering JK to Grade 8 (English and French Immersion) and Grade 9 to 12 (English Program). The retrofit includes LED lighting with occupancy sensors, a building automation system and new energy efficient roof top units for heating and cooling. Renovations also include a new entrance, as well as updated libraries, classrooms and a high school gym.

Nestled in the heart of a progressive agricultural area, Chelmsford Valley District Composite School students enjoy expanded teaching and learning opportunities in this sector. “We pride ourselves in being a dynamic and innovative community school,” says Principal Williamson. “We look forward to sharing our pride during our Virtual Information Night.”
