January 18: French Immersion Transition Evening for Grades 6 to 8
French Immersion students in Grades 6 to 8 and their parents/guardians are invited to an interactive information session about French Immersion in Rainbow Secondary Schools and the benefits of continued studies in a second language. Everyone in Greater Sudbury is welcome, regardless of which elementary school students currently attend.
Rainbow District School Board will present the French Immersion Transition Evening on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at the Laurentian University West Residence Building, 935 Ramsey Lake Road. Parking on site is free.
“Learning a second language enhances career choices, develops critical thinking and communication skills, and provides a greater appreciation of diversity,” said Director of Education Norm Blaseg. “We encourage students and parents/guardians to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about French Immersion programming at the secondary level.”
The French Immersion Transition Evening is designed to help students make key decisions about their future. A number of topics will be explored including course options, diploma requirements, career opportunities and available resources.
“It’s important that students take the time to explore all of their options,” said Director Blaseg. “Experienced staff will be on hand to answer any questions students and parents/guardians may have. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to find out more about our exciting French Immersion programs and the doors they can open for the future.”
