Lasalle music students capture silver awards at MusicFest Canada
The talented music students in the Lasalle Secondary School Concert Band and Guitar Ensemble captured impressive honours at MusicFest Canada at the University of Toronto on May 15, 2018.
Both groups garnered Silver Standing Awards for their outstanding performances. Individual Honour Awards were presented to Ashley Beland of the Concert Band and Avery Liao of the Guitar Ensemble.
“Students were thrilled to join other musicians from across the country,” says Musical Director and Teacher Marc Savard. “I am so proud of both groups for their outstanding achievement.”
“To perform at the national level is truly exhilarating,” says Principal Maureen McNamara. “On behalf of the entire school community, I extend sincere congratulations to all participants.”
MusicFest Canada is an annual national event that brings together some 10,000 of Canada’s finest young musicians who perform for recognition as the country’s foremost musical ensembles.
Staged in a major Canadian city each year, MusicFest Canada is the ultimate experience in combining music and education and is a moving force in the cultural life of Canada’s youth.
