Lasalle Secondary School hosts workshop for students with special needs
Lasalle Secondary School will host a workshop on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 10 am to 1 pm to help students with special needs prepare for the future.
This free event is open to all students with special needs as well as parents, guardians, caregivers, and teachers from all schools in the Greater Sudbury area.
“Destination Readiness will bring together a number of community agencies who will provide information about services that students with special needs can access while in high school and after leaving high school,” says Principal Maureen McNamara.
She adds: “We look forward to welcoming everyone to Lasalle Secondary School as students with special needs explore the wonderful array of services available to them.”
Presenters will introduce their agencies. Participants will have an opportunity to tour displays to obtain more information from agency representatives.
Participating agencies include: Northern Vocational Services, YMCA Employment Services, Special Olympics Ontario/Sudbury, Christian Horizons, Independent Living Sudbury/Manitoulin, Autism Ontario, Adult Enrichment Centre, Children’s Community Network and Respite Services, Developmental Services of Ontario, Ontario Disability Support Program, Sudbury Community Service Centre, L’Arche, March of Dimes, Sudbury Developmental Services, Registered Disability Savings Plan (Investors Group),
ICan, and Reach for the Rainbow.
Lasalle Secondary School is located at 1545 Kennedy Street in Sudbury.
