Lasalle Secondary School makes generous donation to the Sudbury Food Bank
Lasalle Secondary School has kicked off the season of giving early this year. The school hosted a food drive and, in total, collected over 900 pounds of food and $380 in donations for the Sudbury Food Bank.
A special presentation took place at the school on Friday, November 4, 2016 where Mellaney Dahl, morning show host of 92.7 Rock and president of the Sudbury Food Bank, accepted the donation.
The Lasalle Secondary School Me2We Club spearheaded the initiative. Members of the Club canvassed local neighbourhoods on Halloween to collect non-perishable food items, while staff and students took part in a homeroom collection challenge.
“I am extremely proud of the entire school community for coming together for a great cause, just in time for the holiday season,” says Principal Maureen McNamara. “The food and dollars collected will greatly benefit local families.”
The Me2We Club is a group of students dedicated to making positive change happen – for people, for animals and for the environment. Through service projects and youth-led campaigns such as Free the Children and Girls Empowering Girls, the group works to make a difference across the globe.
