Lasalle Secondary School presents “I Never Saw Another Butterfly”
The Lasalle Secondary School Black Box Theatre invites the community to “I Never Saw Another Butterfly.”
This powerful play will be presented at the school from Wednesday, May 29 to Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 7:30 pm. There will also be a matinée on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 2 pm.
Between 1933 and 1945, more than 11 million people were exterminated during the Holocaust, six million of whom were Jewish. Of those six million, 1.5 million were children. More than 15,000 Jewish children under the age of 16 passed through the Terezen Concentration Camp. Fewer than 150 survived.
“I Never Saw Another Butterfly” follows Raja, a child survivor of Terezin, and Raja’s teacher, Irena Synkova, who helped prepare Raja for this feat.
Irena Synkova illegally taught children of Terezin to use arts education, including theatre, painting and writing, to escape the everyday horrors of the concentration camp.
Join us on Raja’s quest for survival in the face of adversity.
Discover how courage, strength, resilience, tenacity and the arts helped fuel her survival.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults, available at the school’s main office, at the door or by contacting Ashley Paige Fraser at 705-566-2280 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lasalle Secondary School is located at 1545 Kennedy Street, Sudbury.
