Lasalle Secondary School students leave their mark at Make your Pitch

Two students from Lasalle Secondary School received more than top marks in their Entrepreneurship class this semester. Nathan Peregrine and Kaleb Sauve placed among the six finalists in Ontario at the Young Entrepreneurs Make your Pitch competition.
As part of an assignment, students created two-minute videos pitching a business idea. The videos were then posted on the competition website and ranked by expert judges and online voting.
Nathan Peregrine’s business, Food Plan, proposed to collect extra perishable food items from local restaurants in order to feed hungry citizens through organizations such as the Elgin Street Mission.
With Vision3D, Kaleb Sauve created 3D renderings for landscape designs and home renovations.  The service would allow customers to visualize the finished product before construction began.
Nathan and Kaleb, as well as their classmate, Kennedy Munch, were among 19 finalists invited to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to take part in the province-wide competition.
They participated in a Business Boot Camp, a set of exciting entrepreneurship activities led by top business owners and entrepreneurs, and networked with industry leaders. They also had the opportunity to pitch their business idea to a live audience and a panel of judges.
“This competition has been extremely beneficial for our students,” said Principal Jeff McKibbon.  “They have been given the opportunity to apply a range of academic knowledge, including oral and written communication skills, and marketing.  It has been a dynamic learning experience, bringing the curriculum to life.”
Nathan Peregrine and Kaleb Sauve have also been given the opportunity to receive business training and financial support to turn their business idea into reality through the Summer Company program funded by the Government of Ontario.
