Lasalle Secondary School’s Me2We Club hosts Girls Empowerment Night

The Lasalle Secondary School Me2We Club will promote girl power to Grade 6 female students in Rainbow Schools during the third annual Girls Empowerment Night on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the school. The overnight event will begin at 6 pm and will conclude on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 8 am.

Students will enjoy presentations from guest speakers Helen Francis, an accomplished professional working in mining, a predominantly male dominated industry, and Emily Zanini, a public educator with the Canadian Mental Health Assocation Sudbury/Manitoulin who will discuss wellness.

Students will also take part in a series of fun activities aimed at developing communication, collaboration and teamwork skills, and of course, to instill girl power.

“The theme for this year’s event is resilience,” says Lasalle Secondary School Principal Maureen McNamara. “Students will be inspired to overcome obstacles both inside and outside of the classroom. They will learn strategies for learning and life.”

Participants are asked to bring activewear, sleepwear, a toothbrush, pillow, sleeping bag and any other items required to spend the night.
