Lively District Secondary School hosts Virtual Open House on December 9th

Students in Grades 6 and 8 and their parents/guardians are invited to the Lively District Secondary School Virtual Open House on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 6:30 pm. Videos and presentations will be available at livelyopenhouse.ca. Visitors will be able to talk to staff live from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

“Lively District Secondary School provides programming for students from Grades 7 to 12,” says Principal Leslie Mantle. “Everyone is welcome to join us online to learn about some of the dynamic learning opportunities offered to students.”

Students and families can explore life at Lively with a virtual tour of the school. Students can also speak with staff and learn more about programs and pathways including InIT – the Innovative Integrated Technology Program.

InIT combines a variety of core subjects with innovative technology classes, in partnership with businesses and industry, to provide relevant and meaningful activities to students through job shadowing, field trips and industry recognized certifications that prepare them to become competitive in a global market. The InIT program encourages problem solving through the design process, integrating digital technology and industry standard software and hardware.

In addition to InIT, students can enroll in one of four Specialist High Skills Majors: Information and Communications Technology – Software and Digital Media; Mining – Technology; Sports – Sports Industry; and Environmental. These Ministry of Education approved programs allow students to focus their learning on these specific sectors while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. SHSMs help students transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university or the workplace.

Students can also enrol in Co-operative Education, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and Dual Credits through Cambrian College.
