Lively District SS hosts Time Management and Finances workshop for parents

Lively District Secondary School will host an interactive workshop “Leading by Example: Time Management and Finances for Parents of Teens” on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. The workshop will take place from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the school’s second floor library.

The School Council is presenting the workshop as part of a proactive approach to help parents/guardians support their children’s academic and social well-being during the transition to secondary school.

Guest speaker, Lynne Dupuis of LMD Solutions, will provide participants with strategies and tools that focus on concepts for sustainable change, knowledge sharing and goal setting. Parents/guardians will engage in interactive exercises to ensure tasks are completed on time, and with everyone on board.

Tammy Ashe, of BDO Canada Limited, will focus on financial challenges and debt solutions for parents with teenagers, particularly for those financing post-secondary education. Participants will also learn tips and tricks to set appropriate budgets, and to help teach their children to take control of their financial future.

“This workshop is part of our school’s ongoing efforts to support our students and parents/guardians,” says Lively District Secondary School Principal Leslie Mantle. “I would like to commend our School Council for presenting this event and thank the Ministry of Education for supporting this event. Everyone is welcome to attend.”

This is the second in a series of three workshops being presented by the School Council with funding provided by the Ministry of Education Parent and Community Engagement Office.

Lively District Secondary School is located at 265 Fifth Avenue in Lively.
