Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School hosts Teen Poetry Slam on April 26th

Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School will host its third annual Teen Poetry Slam on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Contestants will bring their dramatic flair to the stage at 7 pm in the school cafeteria.

Poetry Slam is an individual or group performance where contestants have three minutes to deliver a poem on any subject, in any style. Routines may include elements of poetry, theatre, performance and storytelling. No musical instruments, pre-recorded music, props or costumes are allowed. Points are awarded based on content and delivery.

The contest is open to all Grade 7 to 12 students in Greater Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island. Interested students can register online at lo-ellenpoetry.org. Entry deadline is Thursday, April 21, 2016.

Judges for the event include Sudbury-born author Matthew Heiti, Sudbury Poet Laureate Kim Fahner, and CBC Up North host Jason Turnbull.

Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School is located at 275 Loach’s Road in Sudbury.
