Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School will present the musical “Once Upon a Mattress”, a comedy based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea.”
Evening performances are Thursday, May 29th to Sunday, June 1st at 7 pm, with weekend matinées on May 31st and June 1st at 2 pm. All performances are in the Ernie Checkeris Theatre at Thorneloe University on the Laurentian campus.
“Lo-Ellen Park has staged a full-length musical production every year and is pleased to present the great work of our students in the theatre at Thorneloe,” said Principal Craig Runciman.
He added: “All audience members are guaranteed a great seat in this venue to take in the sets, costumes, live music and choreography. It will be a fantastic show.”
The play, which has been featured on Broadway many times since 1959, is a hit. Adults and children alike are sure to enjoy the wonderful music and colourful cast of characters. Lyrics were written by Mary Rogers, with music by Marshall Barer.
Tickets, at $15 for adults and $10 for children, students and seniors, are available at the school or at the door. All proceeds will support the Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School theatre program and will go towards the cost of sound equipment, costumes, makeup and set construction.
