Lo-Ellen Park students and staff collect canned food on December 9th
Students and staff from Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School will collect non-perishable food items in the Lo-Ellen Park area on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 8:30 am to 9:45 am. All donated food items will be used to prepare food hampers for the school’s Adopt-a-Family program and the local food bank.
The Lo-Ellen Park community is invited to help support their local food bank and the Adopt-a-Family program by welcoming students when they go door-to-door.
Residents who will not be home and would like to donate can leave a bag or box of canned food at their front door. Donations will also be accepted at the school.
“Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School has a long tradition of collecting canned food for our local food bank and our Adopt-A-Family program,” said Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School Principal Craig Runciman. “Our students are eager to help those in need within our community and to make Christmas a special time for everyone.”
The Adopt-a-Family program provides support to those families in need during the Christmas season. Each year, children see their wishes come true thanks to generous donations from the community. Along with a few gifts, families also receive a basket of food for Christmas dinner.
