Lockerby celebrates 23rd anniversary of “Kids Caring for Kids” Cancer Drive
A long-standing tradition of caring will continue on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 when the students and staff of Lockerby Composite School canvass the city and surrounding communities from 6 pm to 9 pm.
Funds raised will support the Pediatric Oncology Program of the Northeast Cancer Centre at Health Sciences North. Students will wear identifiable ribbons and will issue receipts for every donation.
This year marks the 23rd anniversary of Lockerby Composite School’s tribute to former student Laura Cotesta.
“Laura started this campaign while she was attending Lockerby and fighting her own battle with cancer,” says Principal Craig Runciman. “Staff and students have kept Laura in their hearts and memories by fulfilling her dream and honouring her legacy.”
To date, Lockerby Composite School has raised over $880,000 for pediatric cancer care in the north.
“Our students take tremendous pride in what they have accomplished,” adds Principal Runciman. “They hope to enjoy the same amount of community support as previous years.”
East Side Mario’s on Algonquin Road will donate a portion of meal sale profits to the cause on Wednesday, October 24th between 4 pm and 7 pm.
