Lockerby Composite School Information Night Rescheduled to December 5th

The Information Night at Lockerby Composite School on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 has been rescheduled to Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 7 pm.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation has scheduled a withdrawal of services in Ontario secondary schools on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause students and parents/guardians,” says Lockerby Composite School Principal Craig Runciman. “We respect our teachers as well as the bargaining process.”

He adds: “We welcome the opportunity to showcase the exceptional programs offered to Lockerby students. Everyone is welcome to join us on December 5th.”

All students are welcome to attend the Information Night, regardless of which elementary school they currently attend.

During the Information Night, participants will be able to speak with current students, staff and parents/guardians about programs, including the Science Technology Education Program (STEP). Busing to Rainbow District School Board’s specialized secondary school programs is offered to students within Greater Sudbury.

STEP enjoys a rich tradition at Lockerby Composite School, and is recognized as one of the most innovative secondary school programs in Ontario. With a focus on math, science and technology, the program is for students contemplating a career in medicine, science, health care, business, computer science, design or engineering.

STEP students are actively engaged in their learning by keeping pace with the latest trends in science and technology through involvement in initiatives such as anywhere, anytime laptop learning, the AP Capstone program, the provincially recognized Specialist High Skills Major in mining, health and wellness, and information and communication technology, as well as courses in architecture, interior design, medical biology and medical technology.

Lockerby Composite School is located at 1391 Ramsey View Court in Sudbury.
