A team from MacLeod Public School captured top honours at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition Elementary Challenge held on May 5, 2014 at RIM Park in Waterloo.
Grade 8 students Jenna Neilson, Riley Ransom, Caleb Smith and Noah Topolinski took home bronze in the Green Energy category.
“We commend the students from MacLeod Public School on their outstanding achievement at the provincial level,” said Rainbow District School Board Chair Doreen Dewar. “We value the opportunity for our students to showcase their technical skills.”
“The competition allows students to apply classroom instruction with hands-on learning,” says MacLeod Public School Principal Michelle Walton. “This provincial event gave our Green Energy Team an opportunity to test their skills in a fun and creative way.”
Over 400 elementary students from across Ontario competed in eight different challenges, including Character Animation, Construction, Green Energy, Heath and Safety, LEGO Mechanics, LEGO Robotics, Technology and TV & Video Production.
