MacLeod Public School Mitts for Mission campaign a success

MacLeod Public School has raised $3,009.74 for the Elgin Street Mission thanks to generous donations to the Mitts for Mission campaign. The school also collected blankets, coats, mitts and hats for those in need in the community.
During the festive season, many families choose to show their appreciation to school staff by purchasing a Christmas gift. In the spirit of giving, the school invited families to consider making a $5 donation to The Elgin Street Mission in lieu of gifts.
Participants included, front row, from left, Nethra Wickramasinghe, Billy McIntyre, Allie Heikkila, Educational Assistant Brenda Johnston and Jessica Ouimet with Rose Gale from the Elgin Street Mission; and, back row, from left, Cameron Ieropoli, Sarah Ieropoli, Alex Dewulf and David Gibb.
For 22 years, the Mission has been a place of refuge for those who need hope, encouragement and nourishment for their bodies and souls. Seven days a week, volunteers at the mission cook up a nourishing breakfast and supper, provide showers, baths and laundry facilities, and offer clothing – all at no cost. The mission is open overnight to provide shelter during the winter months.
