March 12: Northeastern Elementary School hosts Smile Day

Northeastern Elementary School students will learn what it means to be global citizens when they participate in Smile Day on Thursday, March 12, 2015.

Smile Day, which will coincide with the school’s Winter Carnival, will raise funds for Operation Smile, a medical charity that supports cleft lip and cleft palate surgery for children around the world.

The school hopes to reach its goal of $500 to provide surgery for two children.

“Our character trait for March is resilience,” says Principal Randy Wallingford. “We are encouraging our students to learn valuable lessons from the young children all over the world who are seeking a brighter smile.”

He adds: “Smile Day will also teach our students that, despite our differences, we all belong and the gift of a smile is priceless.”
