Mathletes excellent ambassadors at Ontario Mathematics Olympiad

Mathletes from R. L. Beattie Public School, who captured the gold medal in the Sudbury Regional Mathematics Olympics, participated in the Ontario Mathematics Olympiad in Windsor on June 8th and 9th, 2012. Students from Carl A. Nesbitt Public School, who took away the bronze, also participated in the provincial event.  They competed against some of the best Grade 7 and 8 mathematical thinkers in the province.

The Sudbury teams were excellent ambassadors for Rainbow District School Board and their respective schools.  The R.L. Beattie team, from left, Jeffrey Suitor, Michael Zhou, Helen Czapor and Sarah Bourdon, won the prize for the most cooperative team and captured second place in the team chant category.
