May 13: Grade 4 class in Rainbow Schools links live with Dr. Jane Goodall

A Grade 4 class in the Rainbow District School Board’s virtual elementary school is one of seven from around the world selected to participate in an “Exploring By The Seat Of Your Pants” livestream. Students will link live with Dr. Jane Goodall on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at noon. A renowned scientist, Dr. Goodall braved a land of unknowns for a glimpse into the world of humanity’s closest living relatives.

“This is a perfect fit for my students and I am thrilled we were chosen to participate,” says teacher Robert Dunn. “We are currently studying life systems in science, including biomes, habitats and animals, and the impact of humans on each.” He adds: “My hope is that students leave feeling inspired and empowered to make their community and the world in which we live a better place.”

Equipped with little more than a notebook, binoculars, and her fascination with wildlife, Dr. Goodall has dedicated 60 years of groundbreaking work, showcasing the urgent need to protect chimpanzees from extinction, and redefining species conservation to include the needs of local people and the environment.

Dr. Goodall travels the world speaking about the threats facing chimpanzees and environmental crises, urging each of us to take action on behalf of all living things and the planet that we share.

The event will be posted on the “Exploring By The Seat Of Your Pants” YouTube Channel at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvQkEzcH9f_9OylEdmALiWg
While hundreds can join the livestream, only a few classes are selected to participate live, making the experience an exciting learning opportunity for students.

Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants is a not-for-profit organization that brings science, exploration, adventure and conservation into classrooms through virtual speakers and field trips with leading experts across the globe.
