May 13: Rock Your Pretty Mama at the Evolutionary Mother’s Day Concert

Confederation Secondary School’s Evolutionary Band will take to the stage for its 37th Annual Mother’s Day Concert on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Rock Your Pretty Mama will begin at 7:30 pm in the gym at Confederation Secondary School, 1918 Main Street West in Val Caron. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Listen to Rewind 103.9 for a chance to win tickets.

Tickets, at $15 each, are available from Jett Landry Music, JB Jewellers in the Hanmer Mall, Long and McQuade, EVO Band members and crew, and the main office at Confederation Secondary School. To ensure your seats at this must-see performance, be sure to purchase your tickets early. Evolutionary’s annual concert has been SOLD OUT in the past.

Terry Callaghan of Rewind 103.9 will host this year’s concert. There will also be a door prize – a pair of tickets to the Confederation Secondary School Reunion the weekend of June 24, 2017.

The talented students have devoted more than 180 hours after school to perfecting their music and show. The set list includes songs by Aerosmith, Tragically Hip, Michael Jackson, Trews, Red Hot Chili Peppers, AC/DC, Monster Truck Band and many others.

“This is the only chance for Confederation Secondary School staff and students as well as the Valley East and Greater Sudbury communities to see their band play before they begin touring,” says Music Director Norm McIntosh who has been leading the band for 37 years. “The band has played for more than 5,000 audience members so far this year – to standing ovations. Evo band and crew are not to be missed!”

Evolutionary was recently featured in a mini doc produced by Bolthouse Media. “We were very proud to have our young people recognized internationally,” says McIntosh. “It was a privilege for us to share our success story.” The video is now available on You Tube at the following link – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=246gS6KtXe0

Evolutionary is a 23-piece rock band that includes four vocalists, a nine-piece rhythm section, a 10-piece rock horn section, and a 11-member stage crew. As Action Sudbury’s “No Drinking and Driving” Band, Evolutionary has earned a solid reputation for its dynamic performances.

The band tours from March until June, performing in front of more than 8,000 students per year. Their shows includes a high-energy, choreographed presentation with an exciting light display featuring lasers, strobes, smoke machines and intelligent lighting.
