Mayor Rodriguez/Ontario Summer Game organizers visit Alta Bancroft

Staff and students at the Rainbow District School Board Alta Bancroft Program had an opportunity to learn about the 2010 Ontario Summer Games when organizers recently visited Minnow Lake Place. Mayor John Rodriguez and 2010 Games Coordinators, Dan Lee and John Roberts, provided on update on logistics, sport venues, sponsors and contests. Also featured was Dani Star, singer/songwriter of the Games theme song "We Will Run".

Following the presentations, Mayor Rodriguez spoke to each student individually and encouraged them to complete their studies. From left are teacher Gilles Prevost, Cody Phillips, Jayme Weir, Alex Bourget, Mayor Rodriguez, teacher Dona Aubin, Kasey Serpell, Educational Assistant Sharon Lepine, and Sam Chmilar.

Alta Bancroft is an alternative program for secondary school students ages 14 to 16 who benefit from the non-traditional learning environment. Students receive assistance to develop personal, interpersonal and academic skills. The school’s motto is "From Challenges to Opportunities".
