The purpose of the document is to strengthen educational opportunities for Indigenous students within our city, ensure students have access to all available pathways in completing their secondary school diploma, connect students with post-secondary education, apprenticeships and/or the workplace, and provide support services for Indigenous students to ensure success for all.

“We are proud of our long-standing partnership with the N’Swakamok Indigenous Friendship Centre,” said Bruce Bourget, Director of Education for Rainbow District School Board. “Since the school opened in 1990, 350 students have earned their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. This Memorandum of Understanding reaffirms our shared commitment to Indigenous learners.”

N’Swakamok Anishnawbek Kinomaadwin Gamig is located in the N’Swakamok Indigenous Friendship Centre in Sudbury. Indigenous students receive individual teacher support as well as small and large group instruction in a supportive learning environment.

Cultural content and traditional ways of teaching are incorporated within the course material. Students who are successful in the program are ready for college, an apprenticeship, university or the workforce.
