Metro brings nutrition home for the holidays

Grocer Metro Ontario Inc. is supporting school breakfast programs over the holidays by distributing breakfast bags to students in five schools across Ontario, including Lansdowne Public School and Princess Anne Public School.

“No child should have to start their day hungry,” said Joe Fusco, Senior Vice President, Metro Ontario. “At Metro, we believe access to nutritious food is essential each and every day and are committed to strengthening the well-being of our communities.Through this program, we’re helping students start their day with a healthy breakfast and bringing meaningful support to many families across Ontario this holiday season.”

Every student at Lansdowne Public School and Princess Anne Public School received a hand-packed breakfast kit from Metro, giving families access to nourishing staples over the school break.

“When children have a healthy start to their day, they are ready to learn to their fullest potential,” said Lansdowne Public School Principal Elisa McNeil. “This generous donation of breakfast items from Metro will supplement the food programs offered at our school. We thank Metro for supporting our families. Children will continue to enjoy a healthy start to their day.”

“Having a community partner like Metro support our families over the holidays not only spreads joy, it emphasizes the importance of eating a nutritious breakfast for healthy living,” said Princess Anne Public School Principal Paula Mackey. “Our families appreciate the breakfast and snack programs offered at our school and will be most grateful for this donation which supports student well-being.”
