Ministry releases facilitators report on Sudbury South Accommodation Review
Independent facilitator Margaret Wilson has concluded in her report that the Rainbow District School Board followed its accommodation review policy in Sudbury South.
In her report to the Ministry of Education
, Margaret Wilson indicated that “school closure decisions are best made at the local level because school boards have knowledge of the local communities and the needs of the local students. School boards are directly accountable for their students and the local electorate.”
She added: “I believe that the Board has acted responsibly to resolve multiple accommodation problems and long-term enrolment issues in Sudbury South. The final decision, while difficult, was made following a transparent process by well informed Trustees.”
Rainbow District School Board Chair Tyler Campbell said the Board will consider the findings and suggestions in the report. He added: “We appreciate the time and effort that the facilitator and stakeholders invested in the administrative review completed for Rainbow District School Board.”
