November 3: Rainbow Schools take part in virtual Take Our Kids to Work Day

Grade 9 students in Rainbow Schools will take part in a virtual version of Take Our Kids to Work Day on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

Take Our Kids to Work Day is Canada’s longest-running, highest-profile career exploration event that prepares the next generation of innovators, problem solvers and change makers.

Students can take part in livestreamed breakout sessions with panelists and hosts that represent diverse careers and experiences. For more flexibility, a series of online work experience videos from EdgeFactor can be viewed on demand. All activities will take place during regularly scheduled classes.

“On Take Our Kids to Work Day, students make connections between the classroom and the world of work,” says Bruce Bourget, Director of Education for Rainbow District School Board. “This reinforces the importance of working hard and completing a secondary school diploma
– opening doors to a career that aligns with their individual goals and future aspirations.”

The Learning Partnership, a national not-for-profit organization, sponsors Take Our Kids to Work. In its 27th year, the program provides Grade 9 students with the opportunity to experience and learn about the world of work as they begin to explore possible career paths.

Over 200,000 Grade 9 students and some 75,000 businesses and organizations nationwide participate in Take Our Kids to Work day annually. The Learning Partnership began the program in Ontario in 1994, and has since expanded to reach students in all provinces and territories across Canada.
