Oct. 30: Canadian Improv Games Regional Exhibition Tournament

Students from Rainbow secondary schools will participate in the Canadian Improv Games – Regional Exhibition Tournament taking place Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Sudbury Secondary School’s Sheridan Auditorium. The curtains will open at 7:30 pm.

Teams of up to eight students from Lasalle Secondary School, Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School and Sudbury Secondary School will take the stage to perform improvised scenes fuelled by audience suggestions.

Following each performance, a panel of judges will offer feedback and suggestions as teams prepare for the Canadian Improv Games – Northern Ontario Regional Tournament in February 2015.

The winning team from each regional tournament will proceed to the National Tournament and Festival to be held in Ottawa at the Bronson Centre in April 2015.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for students to display their creativity in a spirit of friendly competition,” said Director of Education Norm Blaseg. “On behalf of Rainbow District School Board, I would like to extend best wishes to all participating teams.”

The Canadian Improv Games is a national network of improv tournaments for students. Fourteen cities, including Greater Sudbury, take part in local tournaments, which are organized and coordinated by regional volunteers and coached by skilled teacher volunteers.

The public is welcome to attend. Doors open at 7 pm. Admission is $5.
