Parents/guardians invited to learn about the importance of resiliency
Parents/guardians in Rainbow Schools are invited to learn about the importance of resiliency during a special presentation at Sudbury Secondary School’s Sheridan Auditorium on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7 pm.
“We invite all parents/guardians to enjoy this free presentation,” says Rainbow District School Board Director of Education Norm Blaseg. “This topic will also be of interest to administrators, teachers and support staff. Everyone is welcome.”
Guest speakers, Chantal Belanger and Stacey Gilbeau, with the Sudbury & District Health Unit, will discuss resiliency, a fundamental factor essential for all children and youth to thrive, cope effectively, and become productive and responsible citizens.
“The traditional understanding of the word resiliency is having the ability to bounce back when confronted with life’s challenges,” says Public Health Nurse Chantal Belanger. “During our presentation, we will explore resiliency in a new light.”
She adds: “As parents, it’s important to understand the components that contribute to resiliency development in children, and the role that the family, school and community each play in helping children reach beyond their perceived potential.”
Sudbury Secondary School is located at 154 College Street, Sudbury.
