Pathways planning session on November 5th features dynamic guest speaker

Students in Grades 9 to 11 and their parents/guardians are invited to an information session designed to help students make key decisions in planning for post-secondary. All students are welcome regardless of which secondary school they currently attend.

Rainbow District School Board will present Pathways Planning – Your Future, Your Plan on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Centre for Education.

A similar event will take place at Manitoulin Secondary School on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 6 pm to 8 pm.

“Students and their parents/guardians are welcome to learn about planning for an exciting future following graduation,” says Director of Education Bruce Bourget. “It’s important that students take time to learn about the many pathway options available to them in secondary school.”

The evening will begin with a dynamic and highly energetic speaker, Dr. Jon Callegher.

The Executive Director of Job Talks, Dr. Callegher is an award-winning employment researcher and marketing expert who has interviewed more than 200 young skilled tradespeople and surveyed thousands of workers about their careers.

Jon Callegher has a Ph.D in Sociology from the University of Waterloo. He has appeared on radio and TV, sharing his research on the skilled trades, the construction industry and other areas of work. He is a professor in the School of Marketing at George Brown College in Toronto.

During the event, guests will learn about and explore a variety of pathway options for workplace, apprenticeship, college or university.

Participants will also hear about program opportunities including Co-operative Education, Specialist High Skills Majors, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program and Dual Credits.

“There’s no better time than now for you and your child to plan for the future,” says Director Bourget. “Everyone is welcome to join us.”

The Centre for Education is located at 408 Wembley Drive in Sudbury.
