Photo: Students at Chelmsford PS achieve reading goal

Students at Chelmsford Public School accomplished an immense goal this year. In September, teachers encouraged students to read over 10,000 books. For every 2,000 books read, staff were to complete a task put forth by the students. In December, staff paraded in ugly Christmas sweaters. On Valentine’s Day, they sang love songs.  By 6,000 books, staff took pies in the face and at 8,000, they were attacked by silly string.

Students have now met and surpassed their 10,000 book goal. They have read well over 12,000 books and, as a reward, will now get to watch their teachers walk from the Tim Hortons in Azilda all the way to Chelmsford Public School on Friday, June 20, 2014 beginning at 6 am. When the teachers arrive at the school, students will get a chance to dunk some of them in a dunk tank.
