Rainbow Board Chair Tyler Campbell honours Student Trustee Billy Mekers

During the Board meeting on June 21, 2010, Rainbow District School Board Chair Tyler Campbell paid tribute to Lasalle Secondary School student Billy Mekers who completed his term as student trustee. “As elected officials, we have a responsibility to develop our future leaders and student trustees help us to achieve this important objective,” said Chair Campbell. “Billy Mekers brought a unique perspective to the table – the voice of the student – which is central to all of our decision-making. In the process, he gained a first-hand look at democracy in action.” Chair Campbell thanked Billy Mekers for his contributions over the past school year and wished him ongoing success as he pursues postsecondary studies at Laurentian University.
