Rainbow District School Board educator receives provincial recognition
Leo Leclair, Rainbow District School Board’s Specialist High Skills Major Program Coordinator, receives an Award of Merit from the Ontario Business Educators’ Association from Past President Karen Bond.
The Rainbow District School Board’s Specialist High Skills Major Program Coordinator recently received an Award of Merit from the Ontario Business Educators’ Association (OBEA). Leo Leclair was recognized provincially for demonstrating excellence in business education by promoting an awareness of business education within the community and contributing to the development of business education within the school system.
A member of OBEA since 2004, Leo Leclair organized an annual regional accounting competition at Laurentian University for many years. He also served as an OBEA District Representative, Entrepreneurship Chair and workshop presenter. A number of his business students have captured top honours at OBEA Entrepreneurship competitions.
“It is rewarding to see a Rainbow District School Board educator being honoured among his colleagues across the province,” said Rainbow District School Board Director of Education Norm Blaseg. “It is a tribute to excellence in Rainbow Schools.”
Leo Leclair has been the Specialist High Skills Major Lead for the Business program at Lasalle Secondary School since 2006. This year, he is sharing his expertise system-wide by coordinating all of the Specialist High Skills Major programs in the Rainbow District School Board. Leo Leclair has an Honours in Liberal Science degree, a Bachelor of Education, and is currently working on an MBA at Laurentian University.
