Rainbow District School Board to fill trustee vacancy through appointment

Rainbow District School Board is calling for applications to fill a vacancy for trustee for the term ending December 2018. The vacancy is the result of a recent resignation.

Ads will be posted in area newspapers the week of January 16, 2017 to recruit qualified candidates. The deadline for applications is Monday, February 13, 2017.

A candidate will be appointed at the regular Board meeting on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

According to Section 219. (1) of the Education Act “A person is qualified to be elected as a member of a district school board or school authority if the person is qualified to vote for members of that district school board or that school authority and is resident in its area of jurisdiction. 1997, c. 31, s. 112.”

Representing the interest of the entire board, trustees work collaboratively to make decisions that reflect the Board’s vision, mission, values and strategic directions. Accountable for student achievement and well-being, they provide system leadership and good governance.
