Rainbow District School Board ratifies three more collective agreements

At a special Board meeting on Thursday, November 27, 2008, Rainbow District School Board ratified collective agreements with Professional Student Services Personnel, Educational Support Staff and Educational Assistants and Communicative Disorder Assistants in Rainbow Schools.

The Professional Student Services Personnel, represented by OSSTF District 3, include the Board psychologist, psychometrists, speech pathologists, attendance counsellors and performing arts administrator. The 13 members ratified their agreement on November 26, 2008.

The Educational Support Staff Unit, also represented by OSSTF District 3, includes office and technical staff in board offices and schools. The 142 employees in this unit ratified their agreement on November 25, 2008.

A total of 140 Educational Assistants and Communicative Disorder Assistants, represented by OPSEU Local 814, ratified their agreement on November 18, 2008.

This concludes negotiations with Rainbow District School Board’s non-teaching employee groups. The Board ratified an agreement with CUPE Local 895, representing 170 full-time and part-time custodial and maintenance staff, on November 17, 2008.

Rainbow District School Board values the work of its employees and the services they provide in Rainbow Schools in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin.

The deals, in effect until August 31, 2012, provide for a salary increase of 12.5 per cent over four years as well as enhancements to staffing and benefits established under a Provincial Discussion Table agreement.

Rainbow District School Board continues negotiations with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (District 3) representing 400 secondary school teachers and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (Rainbow Local) representing 600 elementary teachers. Provincial Discussion Table agreements have been reached with all employee groups, except ETFO.
