Rainbow District School Board records surplus at August 31, 2014
Rainbow District School Board recorded an annual operating surplus of $2.9 million for the school year ending August 31, 2014 or 1.6 per cent of its budget of $180 million. This brings the Board’s accumulated operating surplus to $4.4 million overall.
Trustees reviewed and approved the Financial Statements for the 2013-2014 school year at the regular meeting of the Board on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
The surplus is partly due to increased enrolment.
The Board had more students in 2013-2014 compared to the projected enrolment in the budget that was approved prior to the start of the school year.
The surplus also reflects the fourth year of implementation of the new Early Learning – Kindergarten program, which is now being fully funded by the Province.
Rainbow District School Board offered and funded full day, every day Junior and Senior Kindergarten in all Rainbow Schools as the new Early Learning – Kindergarten program was being phased in.
