What’s happening in Rainbow Schools?
Rainbow District School Board welcomes 14,258 students this school year
According to official predicted enrolment for the start of the 2011-2012 school year, Rainbow District School Board will welcome 14,258 students in Rainbow Schools when classes resume on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 – the day after Labour Day.
There will be no early dismissal on the first day of school.
In the elementary panel, enrolment will total 8,689 students including 6,257 in the English Program and 2,432 in the French Immersion Program.
In the secondary panel, enrolment is expected to reach 5,569 students including 4,906 in the English Program and 663 in the French Immersion Program.
Enrolment is calculated as full-time equivalents.
This fall, 744 children are expected to enter Junior Kindergarten in Rainbow Schools, now being offered full day every day.
A total of 803 children have enrolled in Senior Kindergarten.
A total of 1,138 students have registered for Grade 9 classes in area Rainbow Schools.
Official enrolment data will be available at the end of October.
Rainbow District School Board is the largest school board in Northern Ontario with 37 elementary schools and 9 secondary schools in Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin and Shining Tree.
The first day of school will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 for all area school boards, including Rainbow District School Board, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, le Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario and le Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario.
