Rainbow District School Board and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) representing 450 secondary school teachers in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin have a new collective agreement.
“The secondary teachers of OSSTF Rainbow District 3 are pleased to announce that successful negotiations with the Rainbow District School Board have resulted in a new collective agreement for the term 2008-2012,” said Mike Page, President of OSSTF Rainbow District 3. “The teachers ratified this agreement on Monday, January 19, 2009."
Rainbow District School Board Trustees also ratified the agreement on Monday, January 19, 2009. “The Board values the contribution of its secondary school teachers,” said Negotiating Committee Chair Dena Morrison. “The Provincial Discussion Table agreement signed by OSSTF helped pave the way for a four-year deal that supports improved student learning.” She added: “This is good news for students, parents/guardians and teachers in the communities that we serve.”
The agreement, in effect until August 31, 2012, provides for a salary increase of 12.5 per cent over four years as well as enhancements to staffing and benefits established under the Provincial Discussion Table agreement.
