Rainbow Schools invited to wear purple on Wednesday, October 24th

Staff and students in Rainbow Schools are invited to wear purple on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in a show of support for the safety and well-being of children and youth.

Spearheaded by the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies, “Dress Purple Day” brings together school boards, schools, childcare centres and homes to celebrate caring communities for children and families.

“Dress Purple Day” also emphasizes the responsibility of adults and community services to help children, youth, and families who need support, and to share the message that help is available.

“This small gesture is our way of recognizing the importance of creating safe spaces for children and youth,” says Rainbow District School Board Director of Education Norm Blaseg.

Teachers and educational professionals are given evidence-based resources to help empower students to think and act positively, and to help all children and youth, regardless of their situation, to acquire skills and attributes that lessen their vulnerability and harm.
