Rainbow Schools offer opportunities to earn new credits this summer

Rainbow District School Board will offer opportunities for students to earn new credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma this summer, including Summer School Co-operative Education and e-Learning for students in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island.

Summer School Co-operative Education

Summer Co-op students can obtain one, two or three new Co-operative Education credit(s).

Co-op credits will be available in July and August for students who already have a paid or unpaid placement where the employer has agreed to monitoring.

Students must contact their school Guidance Counsellor to discuss options if they already have or need help finding a Co-op placement for the summer.

Students wishing to obtain one or two credits must register for the session that runs from Wednesday, July 3, 2024 to Thursday, August 1, 2024.

Students wishing to obtain an additional credit must register for the session that runs from Friday, August 2, 2024 to Friday, August 23, 2024.

Students registering for Summer Co-op must include a credit counselling summary from their current school so that the proper Co-op course codes can be applied.

Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to their placements.

Summer e-Learning Program

Secondary students can obtain one new Grade 11 University level English or Physics and Grade 12 University level English through the Summer e-Learning Program. Grade 10 Civics and Careers courses are also available.

Courses will run from Wednesday, July 3, 2024 to Thursday, August 1, 2024. Students will require a reliable computer with internet access to enroll in the Summer e-Learning Program.

Students must register by no later than Friday, June 21, 2024 with a Guidance Counsellor at their home school.

Courses will run subject to sufficient enrolment and teacher availability.
