What’s happening in Rainbow Schools?
Rainbow Schools take part in Winter Clothing Drive for seventh year
Due to COVID-19, the annual gently used winter clothing collection looks a little different. This year, community members are invited to drop off cleaned and bagged winter items to any of Greater Sudbury’s four Canadian Tire locations – New Sudbury, South End, Hanmer and Chelmsford – on two designated days. The final collection day is Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10 am to 3 pm. Just look for the Cooper truck.
Clothing will be redistributed by Our Children, Our Future and other agencies within the Greater Sudbury and Espanola communities.
“I am continuously amazed at the generosity demonstrated by staff, students and community members each and every year,” says R.H. Murray Public School Principal Chris Bourré who co-ordinates the effort on behalf of Rainbow Schools. “Since the program’s inception, more than 75,000 clothing items have been distributed to children and residents in need. We are pleased to have contributed thousands of items to this remarkable total.”
He adds: “In Rainbow Schools, we nurture the physical, mental, social and emotional well-being of students. We are proud to join with Cooper Equipment Rentals and our partners in the community to keep families warm this winter. We thank everyone for their support.”
