Rainbow Schools welcome new Principals

Some of the Rainbow District School Board’s elementary schools welcomed new Principals when classes resumed for the 2017-2018 school year. The Board also appointed a Principal of Program, Kindergarten to Grade 6 – Literacy.

Nadia Berardelli
Principal
Markstay Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English Program)

Most recently, Nadia Berardelli has served as Vice-Principal at Northeastern Elementary School. Prior to that, she was Vice-Principal of Queen Elizabeth Public School. She values the development of new teachers and has applied this interest in her role as co-ordinator of the New Teacher Induction Program for Rainbow District School Board. Principal Berardelli has taught various grades from kindergarten to Grade 8. She looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and the Markstay Public School community.

Christy Case
Principal
Little Current Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English Program)

Christy Case has served as Principal of Central Manitoulin Public School and Charles C. McLean Public School in Gore Bay. Prior to becoming a Principal, Christy Case was Vice-Principal of Little Current Public School. She was also a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing. Principal Case has taught various grades from kindergarten to Grade 8 in Rainbow Schools on Manitoulin Island. She welcomes her return to Little Current Public School to work with students, staff, parents/guardians and the community.

Christine Chisholm

Valley View Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – French Immersion)

Christine Chisholm began her career in Timmins in 1996 and moved to Sudbury in 2006. She has been Principal of Larchwood Public School for the past two years. Prior to becoming a Principal, she served as Vice-Principal at a number of elementary schools. Principal Chisholm has taught all grades in the French Immersion and English Programs from kindergarten to Grade 8. She has also taught special education. She looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and partners at Valley View Public School.

Sherry Conroy
Principal of Program (Kindergarten to Grade 6 – Literacy)

Sherry Conroy has been appointed Principal of Program, Kindergarten to Grade 6 – Literacy. Most recently, she served as Principal of Chelmsford Public School. Prior to that, she was Principal of Monetville Public School. Before becoming a Principal, she was Vice-Principal of Northeastern Elementary School and A.B. Ellis Public School. Since joining the Board in 1992, Principal Conroy has been a primary/junior and special education teacher. She has also been an Elementary Program Consultant. Principal Conroy looks forward to providing leadership on a system-wide level.

Susan Cousineau

C.R. Judd Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English Program)

Susan Cousineau served as Principal of Redwood Acres Public School. Prior to that, she was Principal of Larchwood Public School. She looks forward to assuming her new role as Principal of C.R. Judd Public School which provides excellence in education in the English program to students in kindergarten to Grade 8. Since launching her career in 1995, Principal Cousineau has taught in primary, junior and intermediate divisions. She joined Rainbow District School Board in 2001. Principal Cousineau welcomes the opportunity to serve the C.R. Judd community.

Enza MacEachern

Chelmsford Public School
(Kindergarten to Grade 6 – French Immersion and English Program)

Enza MacEachern has been a Vice-Principal since 2008, at Redwood Acres Public School, and, most recently, Chelmsford Public School. Prior to this, she taught in various elementary schools, including students in an autism program. Principal MacEachern began her career in Guelph in 1986. She has taught in Timmins and Winnipeg. She also worked as an educational consultant in South Africa. Principal MacEachern provides leadership for the Sudbury Regional Heritage Fair locally and provincially. She looks forward to continuing to work with families and partners in the Chelmsford community.

Elizabeth Mack

Larchwood Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English Program)

Elizabeth Mack has served as Vice-Principal at a number of elementary schools. Prior to her appointment as Principal, she was Vice-Principal of MacLeod Public School for four years. Principal Mack has been an educator with the Board since 1996, teaching a wide range of grades, including special education. Elizabeth Mack looks forward to working with students, staff, families and the Larchwood Public School community in her new role as Principal.

Paula Mackey

Queen Elizabeth II Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 6 – English Program)

Most recently, Paula Mackey served as Principal of Markstay Public School. She was also Principal of Monetville Public School. Prior to becoming a Principal, she was Vice-Principal of Northeastern Elementary School and George Vanier Public School. Principal Mackey has worked with many community partners to enhance all aspects of student life. By fostering a strong link between home, school and community, she looks forward to working with students, staff, parents and Queen Elizabeth Public School partners to ensure success for all.

Kerri Monaghan

MacLeod Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English Program)

Kerri Monaghan has been appointed Principal of MacLeod Public School, where she taught Grade 8 for many years. For the past year, she was Principal of Carl A. Nesbitt Public School and Ernie Checkeris Public School. Prior to that, she served as Vice-Principal at a number of elementary schools. Since joining Rainbow District School Board in 2001, Principal Monaghan has contributed to many system-wide events for the benefit of all students. She looks forward to working with the MacLeod Public School community.

Jacques Mantha
Principal
Cyril Varney Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 6 – English Program)

Jacques Mantha was Principal of C.R. Judd Public School. Prior to that, he served as Principal of Alexander Public School and Pinecrest Public School. A classroom teacher since 1988, Principal Mantha has taught in all divisions in the elementary and secondary panels. He was Vice-Principal of R.L. Beattie Public School and Val Caron Public School. He also worked as a teacher and Program Leader at Confederation Secondary School. Principal Mantha looks forward to working with the Cyril Varney Public School community.

Mark Patterson

Redwood Acres Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 6 – English Program)

Mark Patterson has been Principal of Pinecrest Public School since 2013. Prior to his appointment as Principal, he served as Vice-Principal of Redwood Acres Public School and Churchill Public School. He welcomes his return to Redwood Acres to work with students, parents/guardians and the community in the role of Principal. Principal Patterson joined the Board in 1996. He has taught a variety of grades in the elementary panel.

Jim Wachnuk

Ernie Checkeris Public School (K to Grade 3 – French Immersion)
Carl A. Nesbitt Public School (Grade 3 to Grade 8 – French Immersion)

Jim Wachnuk joined Rainbow District School Board in 1993. He has taught all grades in the elementary panel as well as Core French. Principal Wachnuk was promoted to a senior leadership role in 2004, and has served as Vice-Principal at a number of elementary schools. He was promoted to the position of Principal in 2013 at C.R. Judd Public School, then Queen Elizabeth II Public School where he has served for the past four years. Principal Wachnuk looks forward to working with the students, parents/guardians and staff at Ernie Checkeris Public School and Carl A. Nesbitt Public School.

David Wiwchar

Central Manitoulin Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English Program)

David Wiwchar has served in administrative roles at S. Geiger Public School, Webbwood Public School, Lively District Secondary School, and, most recently, Manitoulin Secondary School. He also served as a science teacher and Vice-Principal at Lasalle Secondary School. David Wiwchar was the Regional Environmental Education Lead for Northeastern Ontario and continues to provide leadership in environmental sustainability. He looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and the community in his new role at Central Manitoulin Public School.
